Jan Pendergrass
Pastor of Children’s and Family Ministries
How long have you been working at FFMC & what is it you do here?
My position is “Pastor for Families and Children,” which involves Sunday and Wednesday programming and special events. I also support youth ministries and the college ministries intern, Dave Sim. I’ve been at FFMC since 2006. I also enjoy serving in music whenever I can!
Education/ Past Experience that relates to your current position?
I have been serving in children’s ministries since my college days, so nearly 25 years! After graduating from Biola with an English degree and a Bible minor, I taught in California schools and completed a graduate degree in school counseling. Once I had my own kids it became my passion to help make church a fun and meaningful experience for them and for others.
What community activities are you involved in outside of FFMC?
I am an adjunct professor in SPU's Theology Department and have been a leader for the Northwest Children’s Ministry Network, a group of more than 300 local ministry workers. Also, I serve on the Northwest Ministry Conference Committee and am a speaker and writer of curriculum and resources for the Christian publishing company, David C. Cook.
I like taking evening walks and working in my yard — when the sun's not out!
